Did you know there are over 1,000 hammers on every square inch of our hammered gold? Hand-crafting jewelry was Gurhan's vision from the very start and the unique 'look' of Gurhan's style comes from each loving strike of the hammer.
Making a piece by hand isn't only about hammering; for handmade link chains it means individually creating each link, joining it to another and fusing it closed.
One of the most interesting techniques that Gurhan borrowed from the ancient goldsmiths is the art of hollow-hammering and using organic fillers to give hollow forms the strength and resilience to withstand daily wear. Just as the original metal masters used grains and sand to fill their hollow pieces, Gurhan uses a variety of modern-day equivalent fillers to ensure the integrity of his pieces.
Painstaking, labor-intensive, time-consuming. But ultimately how extraordinary to know that your jewelry is truly from someone's hands into yours.
