• Provenance/Details: An ancient intaglio carving from the greco-roman period. it features a figure riding a horse, with a winged, dragon-like creature below. the rider wears a helmet with wings, identifying the figure as hermes, the messenger god in greek mythology. such carvings were commonly made on dark stones like onyx or obsidian and were used as personal seals or protective amulets.
