• Provenance/Details: This gem shows a rooster, a common yet powerful symbol in greek and roman art. in antiquity, the rooster was sacred to apollo, god of light and prophecy, because it heralded the coming of dawn. it also symbolized vigilance, courage, and renewal, traits admired both in daily life and in spiritual belief. the green stone — possibly chalcedony — enhances the association with life, growth, and awakening. such a gem would have served as both a charm for protection and a reminder of the eternal victory of light over darkness.
