• Provenance/Details: A crystal intaglio depicting a horse is a small carved gemstone piece (typically rock crystal cabochon) with a horse motif carved in intaglio style — especially the reverse crystal intaglio technique where the motif is carved into the flat back of the crystal and viewed through the dome. these pieces began (or at least became popular) in the 19th century for jewellery, and horse motifs reflect equestrian culture, symbolic attributes (power, speed) and luxury craftsmanship.
